I am “out of network” with respect to insurance but will provide you with billing statements so that you can seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier. Psychological services are also eligible expenses for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

Be sure to ask your insurance representative if you have out of network benefits for mental health (sometimes called “behavioral health.”) If you do have out of network benefits, you may want to ask at what rate sessions are covered. If they give you a percentage (e.g., 80% of the allowed amount per visit), you can ask what the allowed amounts are for these codes:

• 90791.95 – Diagnostic Evaluation without medical services
• 90834.95 – Psychotherapy, 45 minutes with patient with TM (telemedicine) modifier

Make sure your insurance company knows that your appointments will be via “telehealth.”

You might also ask if there are session limits, whether you have a deductible, and how much of the deductible you still need to meet.
